The Westboro Baptist Church will picket the funerals of 9-year-old Christine Taylor Green and the other victims of Saturday’s shooting in Tucson. Funerals for the victims of shooter Jared Lee Loughner begin on Thursday. But the people of Tucson are planning to stop the hateful Westboro Baptist group.
CNN reports that one group is being “led by Romaine Patterson who saw Westboro Baptist protest the funeral of his friend Matthew Shepherd. People are signing up to wear giant ‘angel wings’ that shield mourners from the picketers.”
The news network reports there are several Arizona “Angel” movements being formed, and that ” Volunteers will wear “8- by 10-foot ‘angel wings’ … to shield mourners from pickets.” Continue reading »

The Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas announced they will picket the funeral of 9-year-old Christine Taylor Green, who was killed during the attempted assassination of Gabrielle Giffords on Saturday in Tucson.
The Phoenix New Times talked to Shirley Phelps-Roper, one of the leaders of the Westboro Baptist Church Group. Phelps-Roper told the newspaper that the group not only planned to protest the funeral of the 9-year-old but that they were “looking forward to it” and that the child was “going to hell”.

Gabrielle Giffords
A nine-year-old girl and a federal judge are among the victims of the Arizona shooting which has left Arizona Democratic Representative Gabrielle Giffords in critical condition.
“We are still assembling all the facts, but we know that Representative Giffords was one of the victims. She is currently at a hospital in the area and she is battling for her life.
We also know that at least five people lost their lives in this tragedy. Among them were a federal judge, John Roll, who has served America’s legal system for almost 40 years and a young girl,” President Obama said.
