Chaka Khan Won't Be Performing

There was to be a big tribute to the one and only Whitney Houston at this year’s Grammy Awards. And since Whitney’s death happened tragically close to the award ceremony, the producers had to scramble to put together a special – very last minute – ode to Whitney. What did they put together?  It was to be a vocal powerhouse pairing of Jennifer Hudson and Whitney Houston’s close friend Chaka Khan.

But at the last minute, Chaka Khan pulled out of the tribute. Why?

Chaka Khan tweeted, “As I grieve the loss of my friend and “little sister,” I don’t feel it appropriate to perform at this time. Continue to pray for the family.” It was apparently going to be too heartbreaking for Chaka Khan to take the stage so soon after Whitney’s untimely death.  As of now, Jennifer Hudson will do the tribute solo.
