Rumor Busted! Oprah is NOT Blue Ivy’s Godmother
File this one under the Too Good to be True Department.
The latest rumor about new parents Beyonce and Jay-Z was that they had chosen none other than Oprah to be the godmother of little Blue Ivy. What could be more perfect than having one of the world’s most powerful women there to give little girl Blue advice on living her best life – not to mention waving her magic wand and making some fabulous gifts materialize every so often?
But like many juicy bits of gossip, this turned out to be bogus. Oprah’s BFF Gayle King – who, of all people, should know – shot it down on CBS This Morning. The report, said Gayle, is “absolutely not true.”
“She’s friends with them, of course, and she likes them very much,” she went on. “She’s working on sending them a baby gift.” She also pointed out that Oprah is out of the country (the photo here was just taken in Mumbai) and hasn’t had time to shop for so much as a bib.
If Beyonce did choose Oprah as godmother, Gayle concluded, “it is news to her.”
Also surprised by the rumor was comedienne Kathy Griffin, who Tweeted, “Gwyneth must b PISSED,” knowing how close Bey is to bestie Gwyneth Paltrow.
So if a godparent has been chosen, it hasn’t been made official yet. But you can be sure that the Carters will be planning one heck of a christening ceremony!

Bey’s camp released the Oprah as godmother lie hoping she would jump at the chance to be linked to Blue Ivy and thus Jay and Bey. Little did they realize that Oprah is a bigger star than all of them put together and she does not need or try to seek constant attention. Oprah also did not like the way they tried force her hand to say yes to being godmother.
Oprah is no fool and they should not have tried to manipulate her.
