There is a high bounty set on getting the very first photo of Beyonce and Jay-Z’s baby daughter Blue Ivy Carter. Reports suggest that magazines are willing to shell out $14 million to get that first photo. But would $14 million be the most expensive baby photo sale yet?
Not too long ago, first celebrity baby photos were on high demand. Magazines would compete over getting exclusive first looks with People shelling out $11 million for the first photos of Knox and Vivienne Jolie-Pitt. Even Jennifer Lopez received a payout of $6 million for photos of her twins Max and Emme.
Today, one would be lucky to get $1 million for a first baby photo. The craze died down and in turn so did demand.
But then something miraculous happened. Blue Ivy Carter was born. And rumors are suggesting that Beyonce and Jay-Z could receive $14 million for the first photos. So the question is now: do they sell the photos?
Fellow celebrity mom Jessica Alba, who received $1.5 million for her OK! cover debut with baby Honor, thinks that Beyonce and Jay-Z should sell their baby photos and donate the money to charity or put it in a trust fund.
“For our family, we just wanted to control the experience,” Alba explained. “We put the money that the picture made into a bank account for Honor to do whatever she wants to do with. It’s her picture, it’s her birth, and we didn’t want it to be like a weird thing when we were walking out of the house for the first time.”
Selling first photos, according to Jessica, also plays down the feverish paparazzi. ”If there’s a price tag on your child — which is so bizarre — people will go to crazy lengths,” said Alba. “We wanted to avoid that hysteria.”
But of course, Alba is not trying to make any decisions for Beyonce. ”To each his own,” she said. “The biggest thing is having a healthy baby … I’m sure Beyoncé will make the best decision for her family.”

There are starving children in this country (this world but let’s keep it local), kids living in tents, going without. These children are already entitled and before their eyes can even focus on anything further than right up in their face, they have a trust fund?! At the very least, the Jolie-Pitts donated the money but many don’t. And then the stars themselves justify it by saying it beats the “weirdness” of a paparazzi shot on their first outing? Sickening, just f’ing gross that this is the state of our society!
