Kate needs to start doing background checks on her staff

Poor Kate Gosselin can never seem to catch a break. It’s just been revealed that the mother-of-eight’s nanny has a criminal past!

According to Star Magazine, Kate’s Nanny Ariel Cantara was taken into custody on June 2, 2009 after she allegedly stole $44 in goods at a grocery store that included rice vinegar, tampons and Axe body wash.

Cantara no longer works for the Gosselins though, as the former babysitter quit the family in 2010. She did end up though with a non-traffic citation of $173.50 (pretty expensive tampons, right?) after coming clean for the heist, according to Radar Online.

While shoplifting is pretty bad and stupid, there’s a good chance many readers are going to point their fingers once again at Kate for failing to do a background check on the people she hires and supposedly trusts to watch her kids. I mean, what if that nanny stole one of the kids’ cell phones? Or worse, Kate’s hair extensions?
