If the holidays are a time to rejoice over the successes of the past year, then it’s no wonder that Demi Moore doesn’t feel up to decking the halls and making merry. Rumors that Ashton Kutcher was cheating on her with several women – even during their 6th wedding anniversary – led to a quick, public and painful divorce. It can’t have helped that ex Bruce Willis is expecting a child with his new wife next year.
She certainly hasn’t been drowning her sorrows at the fridge. To look at photos of her lately, it would seem the ongoing tabloid rumors that Demi is dropping too much weight have the ring of truth.
So as part of the healing process, Demi is saying “bah, humbug” to big celebrations and keeping things low-key this Christmas. While daughters Rumer, Scout and Tallulah open gifts with their dad, Demi will spend some quality me-time in Hawaii.
An insider source tells the UK’s Grazia magazine, “She just wants to live in a bikini and a caftan and not have to bother with putting on her makeup every day. She has dealt with her anger and is now just a heartbroken woman trying to recover from losing the love of her life.”
A solo retreat working on her tan – and perhaps indulging in a tropical beverage or two (or three, or four) – could help the actress regain her equilibrium and face the coming year with an “I will survive” attitude. The source says that Demi will also continue the Kabbalah counseling that has helped her through the crisis so far: “Demi’s been trying to draw strength from her strong beliefs.”
Wouldn’t it be nice if Demi also came back from her island paradise with a young tanned surfer in tow? Why should Ashton have all the fun? Besides, as the saying goes, living well is the best revenge.
Maybe she’ll even come back to the mainland with a new Twitter name and put her @MrsKutcher identity behind her at last.
