Jessica Simpson Expands Her Fashion Line: Tweens, Maternity
Jessica Simpson: some day her prints will come to expectant moms.
Most expectant moms are busy enough with doctors’ appointments and nursery designing; taking on new work projects is the last thing on their minds. Not Jessica Simpson. The unstoppable singer and mother-to-be appeared with sister Ashlee this weekend at New York’s Dylan’s Candy Bar to announce the expansion of her clothing line to meet the fashion needs of two new demographics.Just out now: The Jessica Simpson Girls Collection, available at Macy’s, Dillard’s and other retailers. The clothes, described in a Tweet by Ashlee as combining “Jess’s playful + feminine style with my vintage-inspired edge,” include faux-fur-trimmed coats, ruffle-front coats, cropped hoodie pullovers and dip-dye tees in sizes 7-16. And yeah, all of them are pretty darned irresistible. Jessica credits her mom with the idea of combining the sisters’ sensibilities.
Jessica also has her designing eye on her fellow expectant moms. In February, she plans to launch a maternity line, with a line of baby clothes soon to follow. Considering her current penchant for fab prints, we’re betting we’ll see a lot of moms-to-be in leopard this spring.
Now, Jess, how about setting your sights on women’s denimwear? C’mon, you think you’re the only one who neverevereverever wants to be seen in a pair of mom jeans again?
