Anti-school: Guy Ritchie

Ex-couple Madonna and Guy Ritchie may share custody of their four children, but when it comes to their parenting, they seem to come from very different worlds.

Madonna is definitely the more strict parent – she doesn’t allow her children to watch television, limits the types of movies they are allowed to see and even edits her daughter Lourdes’ blog!

When it comes to Guy Ritchie though, he believes that kids should have freedom in their childhood. He also stated that he’s anti-school and has never taken parenting advice from anyone.

Check out our slideshow of some of Madonna and Guy’s quotes on parenthood and raising children. Madonna also seems to take a swipe at Angelina Jolie’s parenting style, stating that she’d rather have her kids “sit in one place” than travel the world with tutors.

Tell us, who do you think has the better approach to parenting, Madonna or Guy?

Definitely Madonna. If you set the rules and kids understand them then kids know where they stand. You can always relax the rules. . ‘ No tv’ is not a bad thing, Madonna’s kids are always doing things. They certainly have fun and know how to be creative! What did kids do before tv was available?? Anyway Lourdes herself, in Madonna’s “I’m Going To Tell You A Secret” documentary (2004) , said they watch an ‘episode’ of a DVD of their choice on Sundays.
TV is often used by parents as a baby-sitter. They sit children in front of it with little regard for content!
Guy Ritchie’s seemingly “I’ve done alright’ attitude is naive! He seems to forget he was not raised in a home struggling to make ends meet, where without an education children have little access or exposure to people who might move them to greater things in their lives.
Madonna came from such a background but one where education was valued and where she was exposed to the work ethic she now displays. Despite her wealth, we are told she watches every penny whilst being extremely generous to those she holds dear as friends and family.. Not a bad way to be. Ritchie, on the other hand, is saud to be tight with his money! (well what was mostly Madonna’s money from the divorce!). He is rated as a poor tipper at restaurants.
His laissez-faire attitude
