Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettan

Paul Bettany has two older children with wife Jennifer Connelly, but he still is an anxious new dad to baby Agnes Lark who was born in June.

Upon arriving for an interview with UK’s The Guardian, Bettany remembers he has a little one at home and keeps his cell phone on.

“Oh, let me turn this off,” he said. “Oh no, I shouldn’t turn this off. Don’t judge me…. I have a very small baby. Do you have kids? They’re great, great – the first three years they just scare the sh*t out of you.”

The Broken Lines star and Connelly live in Tribeca in Manhattan with their kids, and have a strong relationship when it comes to “Hollywood marriages”.

“Well, the thing is, we’ve been married for eight years, which is like 50 years in Hollywood years. So I suppose it suddenly becomes really intriguing – ‘How do they do it!’”

Bettany and his wife try not to separate for very long. They have three children (one from Connelly’s previous marriage); Stellan, 8, and Kai, 14, and Agnes, 3 months.

“It’s so weird, so difficult and occasionally heartbreaking,” he admits. “I have a rule that we’ll never go more than two weeks without seeing each other.”
