Beyonce’s Pregnancy Announcement: Did She Do This To Help Boost Album Sales?
We’ll go ahead and just say what everyone is thinking around here.
Beyonce’s pregnancy announcement tonight at the MTV Video Music Awards – complete with her “surprise” secret announcement and carefully positioned hand on bump – comes off as a bit of an uncharacteristic move from a megastar who is usually very protective of her private life.
It was only eleven short days ago that Beyonce was on stage at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City strutting her stuff and dancing on stage with skin tight costumes that didn’t show a hint of a bump.
In fact, we’d expect the chart topper to pull a Jennifer Garner and wait until the pregnancy speculation went into overload before announcing what became very obvious with a growing bump almost every week.
Now the question is: what gives? Beyonce and husband and rapper Jay-Z are usually very protective of their private life, speaking very little about the details of their marriage in their media interviews.
When the couple began dating in 2003, Beyonce and Jay-Z kept a very low profile, and were only photographed at New Jersey Nets games and a 2007 vacation to Cannes together.
The couple married in 2008 in a super hush hush ceremony, with the media only catching wind of it a few weeks later when their marriage certificate became public records.
In fact, to this day Beyonce has never mentioned a word about her wedding or the details of the ceremony, and it wasn’t until September of that year did she debut her $5 million dollar wedding ring at New York’s Fashion Week.
Tonight’s baby bump display and surprise quick pregnancy confirmation makes us wonder: did Beyonce plan her pregnancy announcement at the VMA’s in order to help her weakened album sales? Was this a stunt PR move?
Whether we’ll see Beyonce open up more about her pregnancy and impending motherhood in the coming weeks remains to be seen, but in the meantime we’ll say that this is definitely not the same Beyonce we’ve seen before.
What do you think? Did Beyonce announce her pregnancy in order to help her album sales? Let’s hear your thoughts.

It was pretty obvious to anyone familar with her figure she was expecting then….and she probably announced it now cause she wanted to and it is a normal thing to do….she can’t hide the whole pregnancy. I think it is ridiculous to suggest she is playing a game and about album sales….how stupid! She is pregnant, and announced it…end of story!
jessicawjones commented on Aug 29 11 at 4:14 amBeyonce has been the number top female singer since i can remember. I truly doubt that she did this to boost her album sales. She has always had a number album from the time she was with Destiny’s Child. This does not make it any different, before she announced that she was pregnant, her album was at number one.

She never talks about her private life, so it comes as a surprise that she was so open so quickly with her pregnancy – something you would think she’d keep covered for a very long time. It just seems like a stunt queen move to me!
