Angelina Jolie: Lessons Learned from Her Mom and Raising the Kids with Brad
Angelina Jolie definitely changed her perspective after she adopted her first child and started to add on to her family – and it has a lot to do with her own mom.
In a new interview with The Sun, Angelina Jolie shares the lessons her mom taught her, her desires for the Jolie-Pitt kids, and raising the kids with Brad.
Jolie explains, “My mum always made it clear that I was her friend – and that is a lesson on how to bring up my own children.”
Jolie’s mother was a good listener and Angelina is sharing that motherly gift with her own children: “When we talked, I felt she wanted to hear what I had to say. She enjoyed me and I feel I’m enjoying my kids.”
Angelina adds, “We play together, we dance. Even though they’re all from different backgrounds, they feel like they’re part of the same family.”
Her mother also taught her some bit of patience and understanding for others, with Jolie admitting, “Sometimes, when I want to take on the world, I try to remember it is important to sit down and ask the family how they are feeling.”
Angelina Jolie shares that although her mother was “the most gentle person in the world,” she was “fierce” when it came to protecting her children.
As for raising the kids with Brad, Angelina shares, “I am so blessed to have healthy children and a great partner. We are having a wonderful time raising our kids together. There is a lot of love in our home.”
Angelina’s wish for her own children is for them to appreciate life: “I want my kids to appreciate how fortunate they are in life, compared with so many people who have nothing. If anybody ever tells me that I am a mother to them like my mum was to me, it will be a great compliment.”
