Sarah Jessica Parker carries an umbrella in NYC. Where is James' umbrella?

It’s cold and rainy in the Northeast this week, and no one in the area left home without an umbrella today. Celebs in New York City were no different, including Sarah Jessica Parker, who made sure to stay dry under cover today.

This photo was taken of Sarah taking her son, James Wilkie, to school in the city. Why is she covering herself with the umbrella when little James is left out in the rain? Why doesn’t he have his own umbrella?

Sarah Jessica Parker is no doubt a doting mom, so it could be that the paparazzi just happened to shoot this photo when there was a lull in today’s precipitation. Once you have an umbrella open, there’s really no need to close it in the middle of the street, so it could be that SJP just forgot to shut it .

Then again, it does seem a little bit strange that she is carrying an umbrella while James isn’t. Would she really leave her little boy out in the rain to get wet?
