Stevie Nicks Talks About Why She Never Had Children
Earlier this month, Stevie Nicks Nicks released her first studio album since 2001. “In Your Dreams” is a collection of songs that the songstress says came straight out of her years of personal journals. “It is real, the experiences are real,” she said. “I’m not a storyteller, because I don’t make up stories. The stories are real.”
Not only was Stevie the lead singer for the legendary rock band “Fleetwood Mac”, but she has also been a successful solo artist. Over the last 30 years or so, it’s been no secret that now 62 year-old Stevie has had a long battle with addiction: she entered rehab once for cocaine and a second time for pills.
If you listen to they lyrics of her music, you can hear and learn about her struggles. But over all of the years of being a rock-n-roll goddess and legend, what is her biggest regret?
Stevie sat down with Fox News in her Pacific Palisades mansion to talk about that regret. “The only thing I would change is walking into that psychiatrists office who prescribed me Klonopin…That ruined my life for eight years.”
Klonopin is a tranquilizer generally used to treat seizures and panic disorder. Stevie said it should never have been prescribed to her. “That was just a stupid doctor making a groupie mistake and just wanting me to come in there, tell him about all my music friends and young Hollywood and that nearly ruined my life and nearly killed me.”
But the thing that bothers the most about those eight years is losing the time to have a child. “That’s eight years that I could have. God knows, maybe I would have met someone, maybe I would have had a baby. That was my prime eight years. That was a big mistake. Everything else was exactly how it should have been.”
Such a sad thing to have wanted a baby and never had one. She is lucky to have so many other blessings in her life.
Stevie also recently confirmed that Fleetwood Mac will be touring in 2012 – there’s a concert I’m definitely looking forward to seeing live!
