Celeb Mom Sarah Michelle Gellar Makes a Difference By Supporting Reading Literacy (Video)
Celebrity moms have the power to use their fame to support and draw attention to many hot topics like education and bullying. And now celeb mom Sarah Michelle Gellar wants to bring awarness to children’s literacy.
Sarah is teaming up with The Nestlé Share the Joy of Reading Program. The program hopes to raise awareness about the importance of children’s literacy and to encourage continued reading over the summer. The program is also donating up to $250,000 to Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) – the nation’s largest nonprofit children’s literacy organization – and consumers can help through everyday purchases of select Nestlé products.
Sarah is mom to almost-two-year-old Charlotte Grace Prinze. Sarah says of her involvement with the program: “As a mother and avid reader, I am excited to be participating in ‘The Nestlé Share the Joy of Reading Program’ to benefit Reading Is Fundamental. Reading has had an enormous, positive impact on my life and I encourage people to support organizations such as RIF that work to ignite a child’s hunger for knowledge and inspire imagination.”
I’m also an avid reader, so I think what Sarah is doing is so important to children everywhere. I am happy she is supporting this project, and I am happy to support it as well!
And while supporting the program is as easy as buying specially marked bags of Nestle chocolates, for more information about the program, you can visit the website: www.CelebrationCorner.com/RIF.
You can also see Sarah as she visited the Los Angeles Public Library’s historic Central Library yesterday to read to children and share her love of reading in the video below.
