Liv Tyler helped her pal Stella McCartney launch the Stella McCartney boutique at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York this week!  The celeb moms are best friends from way back, Liv and Stella have known each other since they were babies.

Liv Tyler’s mother Bebe Buell and Stella McCartney’s mother Linda were friends and the girls played together as babies!

Liv wore a black peplum dress from Stella McCartney’s Fall 2011 collection to the Saks Boutique launch.  The two moms support each other and Liv Tyler says McCartney is very sweet about gifts for her son Milo.

The British designer, who is the mother of four children, told PEOPLE that Liv sends pictures of Milo wearing McCartney’s kids collection:

“Liv sends me pictures of Milo all the time in my clothes. He’s a beautiful boy, I have to say.”

Liv Tyler, Stella McCartney and their other BFF Kate Hudson are often seen at fashion events, such as the 2010 Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The “besties” are seen below with friend Kate Bosworth.

Bad info. Bebe Buell was never friends with Linda McCartney. In fact she was always jealous of Linda and the other girls who actually got to marry the rockstars as she was always tossed aside. Steven Tyler even says in his latest book that when he introduced them they got in a fight immediately.

Liv and Stella ARE friends though, just nothing to do with their mothers.

I read Steven Tyler’s book and it clearly says Bebe and Linda were friends. It is the AP that got that all wrong. There was no backstage fight and second of all, Stella and Liv are a good six years apart in age so playing together as babies is impossible. What I believe to be true from knowing some of the players is this- Liv was born in 1977 so that backstage meeting of Steven and Sir Paul happened in 1976 while Bebe was on tour with Aerosmith in Europe. That means she must have been pregnant with Liv. Perhaps Liv MET Stella as a baby but they became friends much later in their lives. Liv and Stella met later at Kate Moss’s house in the late 1990′s?? I’m guessing but seems right.
I doubt Bebe would turn up at Stella’s opening with Liv if she wasn’t welcome there and I’m certain the press can sometimes mix up people’s quotes. That’s what appears to have happened here.
Speaking of books, Bebe speaks glowingly of Linda in her book Rebel Heart and recalls the same first meeting between Steven and Paul in London. But Stella was already going on seven years old when Ms. Tyler was born.
Just a bad typo. Happens all the time.
I believe Bebe and Linda were friends. I believe Liv and Stella are friends. Maybe not because of their mothers but certainly there is that association.
