Royal Wedding Guest List: Elton, The Beckhams, & Mr. Bean? What Celebrities Were Invited & Why?
1,900 people were invited to the Royal Wedding and it is an eclectic bunch; royals, family, friends and of course celebrities. So what luminaries made the grade and why were they invited?
David Beckham and wife Victoria Beckham – Daivd Beckham (and even Posh Spice) are national treasures, so it seems natural to have them on the invite list. Also David Beckham and Prince William worked together to try to get the World Cup 2022 to be in England, it didn’t work but apparently they became good pals.
Elton John – Elton was good friends with Prince William’s mother Lady Diana. Who could forget his Candle in the Wind tribute to her at her funeral.
Guy Ritchie – He is a friend of the couple’s and he also happens to be Kate’s sixth cousin once removed.
Joss Stone – She was one of the performers at the Concert for Diana in 2007 and also at the City Salute in 2008, and apparently became friendly with the two, well enough to score an invite!
Roman Atkinson – “Mr. Bean” – a close friend of William’s dad Prince Charles.
James Blunt – but he’s there to work, he’ll be reportedly playing the church organ at the ceremony.
Mario Testino – the famed photographer took their official engagement photos and the photograph that is on the wedding program.
