Reese Witherspoon Talks Balancing Career and Motherhood
Any working mother will tell you that trying to balance her job and being a good mom at the same time is hard, whether she works outside the home, or sits at her kitchen island in front of her laptop. Maintaining a balance between the two can be one of the biggest challenges women face, and even celebrities have the same issues.
Newlywed Reese Witherspoon is no stranger to the demands of trying to do it all, be it all, and have it all. In her recent interview with the UK version of Elle, Reese said, “There’s this fallacy that we can have it all. I get it often, ‘Oh, you have it all’ – and I don’t. It’s hard. And there are times I take two years off and I don’t work. And there are times I go to work and I feel sick because I can’t see my kids for five days. And it’s real hard to go.”
Reese also adds that different aspects of your life take priority at different times saying, “Work is important to me. The kids are important to me. My relationship’s important to me. But all three can’t be functioning at 100 per cent at all times.”
Realizing that you don’t have to be the best at everything all of the time is half the battle…and it sounds like Reese has the upper hand since she’s figured that out.
If only it were so easy for the rest of us “regular” moms. Wouldn’t it be nice to have the option of taking two years off…and still have millions in the bank left to show for it?
