Sarah Lane: Black Swan Scandal Did Natalie Portman Dance 5 or 85 Percent?
Natalie Portman is seemingly on top of the world. She’s in love, she’s about to become a mother, and she just won the most coveted accolade in acting, the Oscar. And although everyone seems to happy for her and her achievements, one woman is raining on her parade. Sarah Lane. Who is Sarah Lane and what’s her beef with Natalie Portman?
The ballet dancer is making claims that Natalie Portman did not – in fact – do all the dancing that was claimed in Black Swan. The seemingly bitter dancer stated, “Of the full body shots, I would say 5 percent are Natalie… I mean, from a professional dancer’s standpoint, she doesn’t look like a professional ballet dancer at all and she can’t dance in pointe shoes. And she can’t move her body; she’s very stiff.”
But Natalie’s fiancee and Black Swan choreographer Benjamin Millepied said that, “There are articles now talking about her dance double [Sarah Lane] that are making it sound like [Lane] did a lot of the work … Honestly, 85 percent of that movie is Natalie.”
With all the hype surrounding the rigors of training that Natalie Portman went through for the film, it would be a shame if the dancing was only 5% her.
What do you think? Was it Natalie Portman or not?

Brad commented on Mar 27 11 at 4:08 pmNatalie did only about 15% and the dance was made by the pro-ballerina and then they use cgi to add NP face.
Gray commented on Mar 27 11 at 11:38 pmMaybe Sarah Lane should get an agent to handle all of the future body double work she’ll be getting so she can get her name credited properly as the tiny credits roll by on the screen and the audience is slowly pouring out of the theater.
Aimmee commented on May 31 11 at 12:12 pmit said 85 % of the MOVIE, not dancing, was Nathalie. Having lived my life with someone who gave her whole life to dancing, I can say Sarah’s being honest-Nathalie couldn’t have done more than a few poses and basic steps. It takes a life time to achieve this kind of dancing. Saying Portman could do it in a year and a half is ludicrous.
