Chris Brown Explodes On Good Morning America; Apologizes on abcnews.com/gma (VIDEO)
On Tuesday morning on Good Morning America, singer Chris Brown, who was there to promote his new album F.A.M.E., exploded backstage after being asked about his past relationship with Rihanna.
This morning, Brown publicly apologized for his backstage blowup on the set of GMA, saying he needed to let off steam and that he didn’t hurt anyone. A cooler was thrown and the dressing room window was broken.
“First of all, I want to apologize to anybody who was startled in the office, or anybody who was offended or really disappointed in my actions, because I was disappointed in the way I acted and, you know, a lot of people don’t know what went down,” Brown said in a message played on BET’s 106 & Park.
Brown also told BET that no questions about Rihanna were included in the talking points that he discussed with GMA, and that he was there to focus on his new album. GMA confirmed that no talking points were neither given by Brown or provided by them.
Brown also said that he felt that GMA exploited him by asking questions about the restraining order and Rihanna. “I felt like, ok, they told us this just so they can get us on the show so they can exploit me. You know, that’s what I thought…and I kind of took it very, very hard,”
Brown went on to say he had to “let off steam” and release ”the anger that I had inside of me.”
“Yes, I got very emotional,” Brown said to BET. “And I apologize for acting like that.”
GMA graciously accepted the apology, with co-anchor Robin Roberts stating: ”We appreciate he apologized to the staff because they were shaken by his violent outburst.”
Roberts also invited Brown back for another interview, saying it’s time to move on from the past. “It’s time to move on, everyone to move on. We wish him the absolute best and this too shall pass.”
