Alex Pettyfer 212x300 The Hunger Games Casting Rumors: Alex Pettyfer to Be Peeta?

Will Alex Pettyfer play Peeta in The Hunger Games?

With the Twilight Saga and the Harry Potter movies coming to an end soon, we’re looking toward the next big movie franchise.  While The Hunger Games has very little in common with either of those two series, it is an incredibly popular young adult series.  Even more: I think The Hunger Games can appeal to an even wider age range than the other two.

If you haven’t read the books, the Hunger Games take place in the future, after the downfall of the United States. The government that takes over forces each of the 12 districts to send one boy and one girl into the Hunger Games each year, where they fight to the death.  The winning tribute wins honors and food for their district.  Katniss Everdeen volunteers to go into the games for her sister and is accompanied by Peeta Mellark from her district. It is a disturbing story, but one that you just can’t stop thinking about after you read it.

The Hunger Games movie is already well-anticipated, but it hasn’t even been cast yet, though there are many casting rumors:

Alex Pettyfer from “I Am Number Four” says that he has been asked to play Peeta Mallark. I’m not sure he is exactly who I was thinking of for the role.

For the role of Katniss, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin, Jennifer Lawrence, Chloe Moretz, Lyndsy Fonseca, Emma Roberts, Saoirse Ronan, Kaya Scodelario, Emily Browning and Shailene Woodley have all been considered or have said they want the role.

The Hunger Games movie is set for release in March of 2012. Who would you like to see play Katniss and Peeta?

He doesn’t fit my mental picture as Peeta.

I always pictured Chord what’s-his-name, Sam from Glee, as Peeta. And none of those girls fit Katniss. Espceially not Abigail Breslin and Shailene Woodley. Katniss is supposed to be hard, dangerous and a badass. I think whoever is cast will probably be a bit dissapointing.

You might want to do a little research before you publish a story like this. Pettyfer has not been asked to play Peeta, he’s taken a meeting with the producers, as have other people. In fact, this whole rumor, which you are printing as fact, is based on a red carpet interview that went exactly like this: Interviewer: “Did you have a meeting?” “Yes I did. Undecided. Waiting to see a script.”

No to Alex. And He says that he has been asked to play the role of Peeta, Hello, Liongate producers. the hunger games trilogy are wonderful books, why can they go by audition for Peeta instead by going current media-buzz actor like Alex, he is not good for the role. If they choose Alex, that means that cast director and producer are just be lazy to do audition. Movie will not be good.

I am not sure who I picture for Peeta, but I would rather Alex Pettyfer play Jace in the City of Bones movie. He does not look as sweet as I picture Peeta, but fits Jace perfectly.

He’d be a disaster… this kid is all pomp and attitude, the opposite of the “Baker’s Son”. I really hope this is not true.

Jennifer Lawrence all the way for the role of katniss

What a blatant rip-off of Battle Royale! It’ll never be as good.

I like Alex, but he doesn’t fit my image of Peeta, so I hope he doesn’t take the role (if it is offered to him). I like Abigail Breslin (she was fantastic in Little Miss Sunshine and Zombieland), and she could probably pull off Katniss. Chloe Moretz was incredible in Kick-ass, but I she might be a little too young for the role of Katniss (it depends who’s cast as a co-star, because if they’re over eighteen then she would be way too young for the role).

i love alex pettyfer and he would probably do an okay job as peeta but i dont like any of the girls listed for katniss. i agree with tisha that alex would be perfect for jace! still looking forward to the movie no matter who they cast.

I wouldn’t mind Alex Pettyfer to play Peeta. However I’d prefer him to play “Jace Wayland” on “The Mortal Instruments”.

No way. He’s definitely not Peeta. In my mind, the best choice for Peeta is Noel Fisher. He’s a great actor. But he won’t get the role because people would rather have an untalented “hottie” like Alex Pettyfer than a talented, albeit rather average looking guy, like Noel Fisher. But I think most people forget about the third book where ***SPOILER ALERT!!!*** Peeta is captured. Whoever plays him has to convincingly play someone who’s been brainwashed and tortured. Noel Fisher definitely has the acting chops to do this. Just watch the episode of Terriers he was in (called Missing Person) where he played an amnesiac. As far as I’m concerned, there’s no one else with enough talent to do this role justice. Especially not Alex Pettyfer.

No, no no. What a horrible idea – Alex Pettyfer may be (inexplicably) flavor of the month, but he’s a cardboard cutout. The entire point of Peeta is that he’s the quiet, steady type. He has to radiate goodness, not good-looking-ness. I just don’t believe that Pettyfer could touch the vulnerable scenes Peeta constantly carries. He’s the emotional core of the entire series, for heaven’s sake.

The only thing making me hold back on Moretz as Katniss is that she’s so, so slight. I always saw Katniss as rangy rather than delicate. Saoirse is much closer to my ideal, and she also can do that thousand-mile stare really well.

At this point I’d go with Chord and Saoirse, if we’re sticking to known names. But really I’d love them to just cast awesome unknowns, especially given the unknowns-thrust-into-spotlight theme in the novels.

Desperately want Alex to play Jace in The Mortal Instruments. I just don’t see him as Peeta, but he would be perfect as Jace.

Dee commented on Mar 10 11 at 9:36 pm

Alex Pettyfer, in my opinion, is wholly wrong for the role of Petta Mellark. But I do think he would play an amazing Finnick Odair.

i think Chord Overstreet(Sam), from glee, and Emily Browning should play Katniss and Peeta.

Madysen Williams commented on Mar 11 11 at 8:55 pm

DEFINETELY. He would be a PERFECT Peeta, but this picture isn’t that good. Find pictures where he’s got long blonde hair (with a bit locks ;)) and watch. Go on youtube and watch alle the fanmade-casting-vid’s. EVERYONE wants Alex for Peeta, what’s wrong with you guys?
And why do you write “He would be perfect for Jace blablabla”. I mean, this is a site for PEETA and not for JACE, why are you posting this shit?!

ALEX 4 PEETA
KAYA 4 KATNISS
