Harry Connick Jr 220x300 Fat Tuesday 2011: Harry Connick Jr, Laurence Fishburne Celebrate Mardi GrasToday is Fat Tuesday the official last day of Mardi Gras. Fat Tuesday is a day to eat, drink and party in excess.  Harry Connick Jr is New Orleans native who loves to celebrate Mardi Gras!

Harry had a great time in the 2011 New Orleans parade, entertaining and singing with Laurence Fishburne. Actor Laurence Fishburne rode in the New Orleans Mardi Gras parade, along with  Delta Burke and Gerald McRaney.

It seems Nicolas Cage needed a police escort because he celebrated Mardi Gras a little too hard!  Friday night police had to take the actor back to his hotel after an “incident” Cage was involved in a New Orleans restaurant. Officer Juan Barnes told RadarOnline: “We can confirm that we did respond to an incident at that location on Friday night at around 10.45pm and that Mr Cage needed some assistance to go back to his hotel.

Fat Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday.  Ash Wednesday is the start of Lent for Christians.  Lent is the time period between Ash Wednesday and Easter to repent and sacrifice. But in the time period before the start of Lent, the idea is to party like it’s 1999.

When is Mardi Gras?
While Mardi Gras celebrations can last from the period between the Epiphany and Ash Wednesday, the official day falls on the last Tuesday before the beginning of Lent, also known as Fat Tuesday.

How do you celebrate Mardi Gras?
In anticipation of fasting that accompanies Lent, it is traditional to go all out on Fat Tuesday, eating, drinking and generally having as good a time before Lent begins.

Who celebrates Mardi Gras?
Catholics in countries across Europe and the Americas celebrate Mardi Gras. This celebration is known as Carnival in several countries.  Mardi Gras parades, parties and general displays of excess can be found on the days leading up to Ash Wednesday.

I’m pretty sure you’re just making up things. Harry Connick, Jr. has stated several times that he wasn’t going to be in New Orleans for Mardi Gras this year.

Also, there isn’t one “New Orleans Mardi Gras parade.” There are dozens of parades. Harry was a founder of the Krewe of Orpheus that parades on Monday night.

I’m pretty sure you’re just cobbling together information from past mardi gras articles.
