Katie Holmes is suing Star magazine for $50 million.
Star magazine recently ran a cover suggesting the actress uses drugs.
Star’s cover featured a photo of a tired-looking Holmes below the cover line:
“ADDICTION NIGHTMARE – Katie DRUG SHOCKER! The real reason she can’t leave Tom.”
Holmes is furious with the magazine and contends the story is defamatory.
The article never really states that Holmes has used drugs but the cover clearly misleads readers to believe otherwise.
Star has been known to publish stories that are highly exaggerated and plain false. The tabloid has been writing stories that Katie’s marriage to Tom Cruise is in trouble and that she’s miserable.
The libel lawsuit is against American Media, Inc., owner of Star magazine.
