Oscars 2011 - Is There a Best Actress Marriage Curse?

Note to Natalie Portman, Annette Bening, Nicole Kidman, Michelle Williams, and Jennifer Lawrence, you may not want to take home the Oscar for Best Actress tonight.  While the award is golden for your career prospects, it appears to be the kiss of death to any relationship you may have.

A study by Toronto University indicates that winning an Oscar makes the actresses much more likely to divorce.    Of the 265 Best Actress winners who were married at the time of their win, 159 of them were divorced soon afterward.  That’s a whopping 60% that have made their way into divorce court!

Just take a look at the recent winners….. Sandra Bullock, Kate Winslet, Reese Witherspoon, Hilary Swank, Nicole Kidman, and Halle Berry all won their awards and all ended up divorced (that’s just from the last decade!)

Whether there really is a Best Actress Oscar curse remains to be seen, it may just be a case of husband’s who can’t quite deal with their partners success.

Do you think there is a Oscar marriage curse for Best Actress winners?
