Christian Bale Rant: Christian Bale Forgets Wife's Name?

Did you see the Christian Bale rant at the Oscars 2011? Did Christian Bale really forget his wife’s name in the middle of his acceptance speech, or was he just choked up after winning?

Christian Bale won the Oscar tonight for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Fighter. Mid-way through his acceptance speech, he began thanking people, and he sort of stopped when he got to his wife. He appeared to be pretty choked up, and even said something along the lines of, “I’m not usually like this…”

Did Christian Bale really forget his wife’s name…or was he just incredibly emotional about his award? (And in case you were wondering what Christian Bale’s wife’s name is…it’s Sibi).

It sure seemed like he forgot, but he may have just gotten emotional when he went to thank her.

He totally forgot. So self absorbed that he forgot her name completely. He was not choked up. Did you see him watching the clip of himself in ‘The Fighter’? He was the only person in the room at that moment. He went over that speech a million times in the mirror at home & glossed over the wife and kid ending every time to the point of not remembering their names at speech time. If you have kids at home, you know that everything you do is for them. If you as a parent gave this speech, you would thank your spouse & kids first thing. No question. His daughter was breezed over at the end because he realized how much he screwed up for forgetting his wife’s name. I say they are divorced in a year, & she calls it off to save face.

We all have foundations in life. In emotional moments we instinctively think of what is most important to us first. His wife and child were a footnote. It’s a sad realism that drives the most successful to the top in Hollywood. It’s why I didn’t stay there. If you are from the Northeast like myself, the South, the Midwest… You know that there is a sense of pride in the level of loyalty you show to those who care about you. In my experience of LA, there are a lot of people with these values. But far too many get swept up in the parade of narcacism for me to be surprised by a speech like Bale’s. Don’t worry Chris. We’ll all forget by Batman 5.

She’s married to an Oscar winning A-list actor who is the star of the second highest grossing film in movie history. She probably doesn’t care what he calls her.
