I do not understand why stars receive swag? Really, they can buy these things 10 times over and then some more. Ridiculous. There should be $16,000 donations to the charity of your choice opposed to $16,000 all inclusive vacations.

The rich are constantly getting richer. I for one, is sitting here, doing my taxes and realizing something is wrong with this picture.

Hi Trina,

Let me explain to you why stars receive swag–it’s called, Marketing 101. Stars receive “free” products companies allocate from their marketing budgets because companies realize that a celebrity being photographed or talked about or blogged about wearing their product lends instant credibility to the item and better yet, gets the item and company press. Press leads to good things. First and foremost, it provides exposure, builds brand awareness and ultimately, if all goes well, leads to increased sales. And, as we all know, sales growth is key to job retention and growth.

In other words, it’s a mutually beneficial arrangement. Nothing is for free–and most celebrities get this.

Trina,

Arianna is right about all the information that she stated. But, from my point of view, the company (and man) that started Distinctive Assets is my friend. We are from a small town in Virginia and he has come a long way in bettering his life. He may be rich and famous now, but he worked for every bit of it. Please think about how judgmental you are being and be happy for those that actually do have more. Not everyone got to where they are today by having it handed to them. I am sooooo very proud of my friend and, yes, a little jealous. He has the life that many of us want. I still live in that small town but chose not to leave. He had the balls to do it and the knowledge to do more. :)
