Helena Bonham Carter, Kings Speech Rule!The BAFTA Awards, Britain’s top film prize are going on right now on the other side of the pond. British and American celebrities gathered at the Royal Opera House for the British awards, everyone looked fabulous in spite of the London rain.  We have scoop on some of the BAFTA winners too!

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards are very important to awards season because the BAFTAs usually foreshadow the Oscar winners! A few of the celebs who hit the BAFTA red carpet in the London rain:

The Social Network’s Jesse Eisenberg who is nominated for a Best Actor award was one of the first celebs to arrive!

Director Tim Burton and wife Helena Bonham Carter arrived at Royal Opera House in London, followed by Kevin Spacey.  Sir Paul McCartney is a veteran of the BAFTA awards while The Social Network’s Andrew Garfield and Harry Potter star Emma Watson are fresh faces.  Black Swan star Barbara Hershey looked fabulous on the red carpet but her pregnant co-star Natalie Portman did not attend the London awards.

The BAFTAs are going on right now so we have the scoop on some of the winners!  So far, it’s been a sweep for The King’s Speech!

Here are the BAFTA winners so far:

Original Screenplay THE KING’S SPEECH – David Seidler
Adapted Screenplay - THE SOCIAL NETWORK – Aaron Sorkin
Best Supporting Actor – GEOFFREY RUSH – The King’s Speech
Best Supporting Actress - HELENA BONHAM CARTER – The King’s Speech
Outstanding British Film - THE KING’S SPEECH

Rising Star Award TOM HARDY
With his breakthrough performance as Eames in Christopher Nolan’s Inception, English actor Tom Hardy is red hot and so it’s fitting Hardy should receive a BAFTA award this year.

Hosted by Jonathan Ross, the 2011 BAFTA Awards will broadcast from London’s Royal Opera House  but the awards will be premiered today  in the U.S. exclusively by BBC America.
