Mark Zuckerberg Gets Restraining Order Against Stalker Pradeep Manukonda, Will It Keep Him Safe?
A restraining order has been issued against the man who has been stalking Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his girlfriend. The restraining order has been obtained against 31-year-old Pradeep Manukonda.
Mark Zuckerberg filed the legal papers needed to get a restraining order against Manukonda, who has tried to “follow, surveil and contact Mr. Zuckerberg using language threatening his personal safety” as well as the safety of his girlfriend and his sister.
The order states that Pradeep Manukonda must stay at least 300 yards away from Zuckerberg, Zuckerberg’s sister and his girlfriend.
According to Time magazine, Manukonda went to several of Facebook’s offices in Palo Alto, Calif., looking for Zuckerberg so he could ask him for money for his family. On Jan. 24, Facebook security also caught Manukonda as he was about to climb the front steps of Zuckerberg’s home.
TMZ.com posted excerpts of some of the messages Manukonda sent to Zuckerberg, one message read, “Please mark (sic) … time is really running out for me … please help me. I really need your help … please respond in time before it’s too late for us … I owe my entire life at your service … please help me, then i am ready to die for you.”
Mark Zuckerberg’s situation highlights the safety issues surrounding social media, as well as some of the problems with restraining orders against stalkers. Generally restraining orders don’t seem to be very effective for people who are willing to “die” to for another person.
