Super Bowl Halftime Show 2011: No One Better?
The Black Eyed Peas will perform during the Super Bowl Halftime Show 2011. Doesn’t it seem like the performers for the Super Bowl Halftime show used to be more current or bigger names?
I like the Black Eyed Peas, sure. But, the Super Bowl Halftime show choices have been a little weak since the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction.
Since that fateful incident, the Super Bowl Halftime show has included Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Prince, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, and The Who. Admittedly, they are big names. But, not current. Not something that makes the Super Bowl Halftime Show a must-see.
We’re more likely to flip the channel and watch the Puppy Bowl or go fill up on Super Bowl snacks or wish there were more Super Bowl Commercials than to tune in.
What do you think of the Black Eyed Peas as the choice for the Super Bowl Halftime Show 2011?

All of the above artists are still among the highest grossing live tours in music as well as creatively still producing new music that people are moved by. I agree that virtually no one over 60 gets airplay on top 40 music stations. Actually, in Bruce’s case, they have their own dedicated radio channel! Hey, if I was part of the hip hop/rap/pop metal audience as, I suspect you may be, I’d lean more to your point of view. Bottom line, the “legends” produce versus the 15 minutes of fame artists too common in today’s music world.
