Are Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith exploiting their kids, Willow and Jaden?
That’s what Waiting to Exhale author Terry McMillan believes.
McMillan took to Twitter to voice her concerns, saying that 10 year old Willow and 12 year old Jaden “are being pimped and exploited” by their parents, Will and Jada Smith.
Terry McMillan writes: “The Smith children already act like child stars. There’s an arrogance in their demeanor and behavior. I find it incredibly sad. It feels like the Smith children are being pimped and exploited. Or, they’re already hungry for fame. What about 4th grade?”
McMillan later deleted her tweets and apologized: “Twitter is not the best forum to express some things. I didn’t know folks would take my opinion so personally.”
What do you think of Willow and Jaden’s successes? No doubt they are talented kids – Willow’s “Whip My Hair” was super successful, there is talk that she’ll play the lead role in a remake of Annie, and she gets to tour with Justin Bieber. Jaden had a huge hit with “Karate Kid” and will be in M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming movie, One Thousand A.E.
The talent is there, no doubt… but so are the connections. How many other talented kids are struggling to make a name for themselves when Will and Jada have all the connections to eliminate any kind of career obstacles for their kids?
Do you think Will and Jada Smith have exploited their kids? They have nothing to gain for it – they’re already millionaires, so it’s not personal gain… but their kids are just having everything handed to them, right?

Joan commented on Feb 01 11 at 9:13 pmI don’t think so at all. Everyone “famous” has to start at one point. Look at Miley Cryus and her little sister Noah. Shes starting out young with being in movies. Just because Will and Jada are millionaires doesn’t mean anything. In a way this is teaching the kids about work. Im sure with what they do a lot of work is put into it. If they enjoy so be it. Parents want there children to have, well in a sense everything. As for the other “talented kids” who don’t have these “connections” they will have there time to be “famous” It will all happen when the time is right.
