Girls Basketball Team Slaughters the Competition 108-3: C’Mon Girls Show Some Sportsmanship
Girls Outscore the Competition!
WNBA legend Lisa Leslie once scored 101 points in the first half of a high school game (the other team voted to forfeit the game at halftime). Kobe Bryant managed to score 2,883 points in his high school career. It really should come as no surprise that a Utah girls basketball team took the court and slaughtered the competition 108-3 this week.
It’s certainly time for some lessons in sportsmanship!
Girls play ‘nice’. They mind their manners and avoid getting down and dirty. Yeah right, when it comes to sports the girls can be just as competitive as the boys!
The competitive nature of girls was on full display when the girls varsity basketball team for Christian Heritage High in Utah took the floor and flattened their competition the West Ridge Academy. The final score was a total slaughter of 108-3.
While I give West Ridge Academy kudos for staying on the court and taking their beating like a bunch of girls, I question the adults involved in the game for not stepping in to let the girls have some small semblance of dignity. Most leagues have rules that allow a forfeit if the score goes out of control. Where were the refs? What about the parents? How about the other team?
It’s time to start teaching our kids some lessons in good sportsmanship! It’s fine to win, but at least show a little bit of mercy.
