No Strings Attached: Fun Romantic Comedy for Girls Night Out
No Strings Attached follows the story of Emma (Natalie Portman) and Adam (Ashton Kutcher) who move from simple friendship to “friends with benefits” until Adam wants more. Adam agrees to be a “sex friend” but in a role reversal, the man wants something more.
The role reversal in this flick is refreshing but it’s so far from real life. Slate made an interesting observation about No Strings Attached, “About halfway through the movie, one of Portman’s fellow doctors who has designs on her tells Kutcher that he’s the kind of guy a girl just has sex with; not the kind a girl would want to marry. You heard right, he basically called Kutcher a Mimbo.”
It doesn’t really matter in the end because No Strings Attached is a fun, engaging romantic comedy with parts that will make you laugh out loud. One of those LOL moments in the movie for me was The Period Playlist. Adam makes Emma a list of songs for her period, with hits like U2′s “Sunday Bloody Sunday” and Blondie’s “The Tide is High” and others.
Bad news surrounds us daily. Real life, especially in the bitter cold of January, can be a real drag. So treat yourself to No Strings Attached with a girlfriend, you’ll get a warm ray of sunshine, and brighten up your winter!
