The Cape tv show premiere

The Cape tv show premiered tonight. In fact, the pilot episode isn’t even over yet. But, I’m bored already.

The series only has 13 episodes total.  I’m usually a fan of series like this: they have a definitive beginning, middle, and end. No going off on crazy tangents, trying to prolong the series. There’s a clear goal of getting to the end of the storyline. I wonder if it will even last that long, though.

I can’t seem to pay attention to even the pilot episode. The superhero thing isn’t working for me in this show.

I have to wonder if this show will even last the full 13 episodes that are planned out. Maybe it will since it’s not that long of a season, though I wouldn’t be surprised if it got shoved to an odd timeslot like Saturday night if it does stick around.

But, it could just be me. Are you watching? Do you like it?

I gave it a try. It was surprisingly bad. Extremely cheesy, and he became a superhero in like 20 minutes with little explanation. If I hear the second half is better, I’ll try it out again but with very low expectations.

it will be cancelled…Duhh It’s NBC
Can someone name (for the past 7 ears) how many shows NBC have cancelled in total?

Are you nuts? The pilot was terrific. This show is so different from other ‘super hero’ shows that it is refreshing. Maybe you should have actually watched the pilot instead of thinking about what you could say to poo poo it in order to grab a controversial headline. I’m 52 years old and I think the pilot rocked. Academy award material it is not – but the acting is excellent for TV – and the story’s action keeps you on the edge of your seat. It has all the ingredients of a great show: a framed & fallen good guy who turns into a superhero with the help of some very talented & very out of the ordinary ‘new found friends’ who know things about magic and creating illusions. Man – that is a twist that I have never seen before in any super hero show. The hero also has a family he’s trying to protect by ‘staying dead’. And the ’cause’ is a great one: trying to prevent the city from becoming taken over by a villain whose in disguise as the new police chief for the one that he killed. I think the show is terrific. Maybe you should watch it again …this time without an agenda of trying to write something negative about it in order to create some controversy.

Speed of light pace, no character development, week storyline and poor script, what’s not to like? NBC does it again! Let’s set the record straight, I love a good superhero story but this is no Batman, X-Men, Spiderman etc etc. The premise had promise but the execution was disapointing to say the least. As I watched this premire I felt like I was tossed from scene to scene and I ended up caring less and less about the people I was watching. It’s as if NBC thinks, hey lets run around with a Cape and get some stunt man to do some jumps and kicks throw in some cheesy CGI with a snake like cape wrapping around the thoats of some bad guys (again and again and again) and we’ve got prime time gold. Didn’t someone have to smarts to mention that we the viewers of this genre enjoy a detailed smart story; we want to be transported into a new world and end up caring about the people we are watching. I neither love or hate the characters I watched and as far as I’m concerned indiffernce will be the death of this series. I may give it one more episode, if for any reason just to see if Summer Glau has anything to offer other then the sparadical eye candy that was sprinkled in throughout the premire.

To use your ‘let’s set the record straight’ response – please be advised that In your comments you are comparing a TV pilot with ‘mega million’ big budget Hollywood productions. Compared to ‘super hero’ pilots like Smalleville – this was every bit as good. It was entertaining. Most people watch it for the entertainment value. Bottom line: it was an entertaining way to spend a Sunday night. You need to compare apples to apples – not apples to oranges. Anyway, that is my two cents. I am a fan of the show at this stage. I like it and you don’t …C’est la Vie.

What an Awesome show ! I can’t believe that anyone who enjoys this “genre” (as one writer wrote) would want to say anything negative about this show.I also am an “older”viewer who was moved by the story line and the characters. Most young viewers don’t have the patience to watch characters evolve. They want the hero to be more than real.I will definitely be waiting for ALL 13 episodes and will consider myself a fan. As for this blogger who claims to be bored before the pilot was over,well…..,I used to tell my students that only boring people can become bored.Be entertained, enjoy the time to escape into a world not of our own making.Or perhaps he or she is too “intelligent” to enjoy imagination and fantasy.

I’m a 71 yr old grand & great grandmother and I enjoyed “The Cape.” Since I just have basic cable, it has become increasing same oh, same oh boring! Course, I’m a NCIS, CSI Miami, etc., fan, so what can I say except it is better than watching “The Batchelor” again!!!!

We need to give the cape to Summer Glau. That will spike this show up!/@.

It might do ok if the writers/producers read the internet chatter and blogs to know that what ppl dislike most about this show, and that is the family storyline. I for one can not stand the family storyline. I find myself fast forwarding the parts when I see the kid or the wife, its boring, trite, and isnt what most ppl want to see in this type of show…So I hope the powers that be see the blogs and revamp the show I would like to see it survive.
