Remembering Debbie Friedman – What Happened to This Beloved Singer?
The Jewish community lost one of their most beloved singer and songwriters. Debbie Friedman who is considered to be one of the “most important figures in contemporary Jewish music,” passed away on Sunday morning. “She is the voice of the Jewish people of the 20th century,” said Yaffa Weisman (a member of the faculty and director of the library at Hebrew Union College in LA). “Her music has transformed the world of Jewish prayer.”
What happened to the songstress?Debbie Friedman – who was in her 50s - died at an Orange County hospital and had reportedly been in a medically induced coma at an Orange County hospital. She apparently had been suffering from pneumonia.
She will be missed by many. Her services will take place on Tuesday in Santa Ana. You can find out more here.
