NFL Draft Shocker: Andrew Luck Chooses His Education Over Playing Football
Mock football drafts across the country are being placed into disarray this afternoon as the potential first draft pick of the 2011 NFL Draft, Andrew Luck, has decided to finish his college education and stay out of the draft for this year. Up until now it seemed like a done deal that the quarterback would opt out of his senior year to enter the spring fray.
Why did Andrew Luck decide to stay out of the NFL Draft?
In making the decision to stay in school after his stellar season Luck may be giving up millions of potential earning in the NFL, but he will be finishing one of his personal goals by achieving his college degree.
Of his decision to stay in school Luck says, “I am committed to earning my degree in architectural design from Stanford University and am on track to accomplish this at the completion of the spring quarter in 2012.”
His decision to finish his education should serve as a valuable lesson to kids about goals, dedication, and the importance of personal dreams. Our kudos go out to Andrew Luck on making the decision to finish his education!

Amanda commented on Jan 06 11 at 5:17 pmI suppose it’s nice in some way that he wants to finish his degree, but this is a terrible career move. He probably would have been the 1st or 2nd pick in the NFL draft, so it’s not like his pro football prospects can get any better by playing his senior season. Plus, the NFL may end up instituting a rookie salary cap next year, so Luck stands to lose tens of millions of dollars.
