Homeless Man with the Golden Voice Ted Williams YouTube: How Was He Discovered?

Ted Williams, the homeless man with a golden voice, has become an overnight sensation and offers hope to many who are struggling.
How was he discovered?
An Ohio newspaper web producer, Doral Chenoweth, discovered him and thought he would make a good local-interest story. He says he never thought his video of the Brooklyn-raised man would go viral.
“I had a slow news day Monday,” Chenoweth, 47, said.
A Columbus Dispatch editor pleaded for a video to post on the newspaper, so Chenoweth pitched the story he made about Ted Williams back in October.
“I didn’t think it would do anything,” Chenoweth said Wednesday night. The video went viral after being posted on YouTube and had over 7.5 million views!
It took one person to give another person in need a chance – and look at how it has changed Williams’s life.
Chenoweth said that when he first spotted Williams on the side of the road holding a sign reading, “I have a God given gift of a voice,” he had to stop and take a listen. He gave Williams $1 to demonstrate his smooth, velvety voice.
“I think his story resonates with people. He wants to do well. He’s trying to overcome his addictions… You hope he has a good life. You want him to do well,” Chenoweth said of Williams. “There’s a chance he could go back to alcohol and drugs. That would be sad.”
Well, it seems the recovering addict is set – he has also gotten job offers from around the world, including one from the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball team.
He told a local radio show in Ohio, “The Cleveland Cavaliers just offered me a full-time job and a house! A house! A house!,” Williams said.
There’s also been buzz that the NFL and MTV are courting Williams.
