Who is Monica Cruz? Hint: She’s just as beautiful as her famous older sister! Monica Cruz is Penelope Cruz’s sister, which makes her an expectant aunt, with Penelope and Javier Bardem’s first baby due early next year. In fact, Monica Cruz was instrumental in making sure that Penelope’s baby bump didn’t show up in the new movie “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.”
As you can see from the Monica Cruz photos, the two sisters look a lot alike! Monica Cruz was a stand-in for sister Penelope on long shots in the movie, which stars Johnny Depp once again as Capt. Jack Sparrow. At the end of filming, Penelope was still used in close-ups, but her actress sis appeared in the ones that called for a full body.
Monica and Penelope come from a talented family. Mom Encarna Sanchez is a hairdresser, dad Eduardo Cruz is a retailer and auto mechanic, and brother Eduardo Cruz is a singer.
