In this video clip, Blake Edwards talks about how he met Julie Andrews in a “Hollywood movie story kind of way” – they would see each other in traffic in Beverly Hills and he finally introduced himself.
They discovered they had been coming/going from their analyst!
Blake also talks about how Julie Andrews was pigeon-holed in the Mary Poppins and Sound of Music roles, but he knew there was more there.
Andrews talks about taking a break and having a family, while Blake worked on writing.
Family was obviously very important to Julie and Blake, with Julie being quoted as saying, “Blake [husband Blake Edwards] and I have this wonderful arrangement that while one is working hard, the other tries to be at home as much as possible and vice versa.”
