The Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting takes place tonight, and is an annual tradition that is enjoyed by the whole family. You can watch the live stream video of the Christmas In Rockefeller Center TV Special, and it is also airing right now on NBC.

Here are some fun facts about the Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting, and America’s most favorite Christmas tree!

This year, the tree was donated by a firefighter who was one of the first responders on September 11th, 2001.

The tree used this year is about 75 years old!

The original tree that was used for the Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting in 1931 was 20 feet high.

It takes 30,000 LED lights to light up the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree.

Each year, 2.5 million people come to New York City to see the Rockefeller Center tree.

The tree drinks a whopping 90 gallons of water a day!

The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting first aired on TV in 1951, 20 years after the original ceremondy.

The Rockefeller Center ice skating rink in front of the tree opened in 1936.

The tree consumes 1297 killowatt hours of electricity per day.

Iam disappointed that our station will not be airing the Christmas from Rockefeller Center as they are showing a local basketball game. Would love to be able to see it is possibe. Mary
