Bristol Palin Dancing With The Stars: Is Bristol Treated Unfairly On DWTS Because Her Mom Is Sarah Palin?
Bristol Palin has beat the odds and made it to the finals on Dancing With The Stars! Many people believe that Brandy should have been the one to stay last night and go on to the DWTS final instead of Bristol, but the votes are in and the viewers have spoken.
What is the real problem that people have with Bristol Palin making it to the Dancing With The Stars final? Is it because they believe she truly doesn’t deserve to be there? Or is Bristol Palin treated unfairly by some DWTS fans because her mom is Sarah Palin?
Viewers may not be Sarah Palin fans, but that doesn’t mean that they should make fun of an 20-year old girl because of who her parent happens to be. If this were any other 20-year old girl on Dancing With The Stars, would she be getting the same criticism?
Bristol Palin has had quite a journey on Dancing With The Stars, and though her dancing skills haven’t been as perfect as some of the other contestants, she has worked hard and she has come a long way from the first show.
Doesn’t she deserve the benefit of the doubt for managing the demands of being a teen single mom, being on Dancing With The Stars when she is not used to being on TV, and for doing the best she can?

Sally commented on Nov 17 10 at 7:34 amFirst of all, she is now 20, not some to-be-pitied 18 year old. Secondly, this is a dance contest for people who have accomplished something in their lives in another area than professional dance. Bristol’s ‘accomplishment’ was becoming pregnant at 17 and being Sarah Palin’s daughter. Period. If anyone has been treated unfairly, it was the real stars who have been thrown off the show in favor of this young woman who thinks that because she is a single mom (her choice) she somehow represents all young girls out there (I’m certain there are thousands of single moms actually going to school and working hard who do not have the benefit of a millionaire mother to support their running around for months to Hollywood.) No, Bristol has been treated more than fairly by the public. She’s a non-deserving finalist, isn’t she, and her mother’s coven will no doubt make sure she wins. I hope she feels really good about herself when she receives the prize and accolades and cash over people who have improved much more than she has, and without whining about their perception in the media.
Donna Escher commented on Nov 17 10 at 7:35 amNo, she is being treated unfairly because she is the least talented and is being kept on by her mother’s followers. Being a teen mom does not make her a star contestant to begin with!
KarenJ commented on Nov 17 10 at 8:46 amWell said, Sally. Not only has Bristol Palin been criticized justifiably by the public for her slow and awkward progress, and for the cult following that has not retired her from the competition, but she’s done two things that no other DWTS contestant has ever done:
She insulted every other one of the people competing, AND the entire production staff of DWTS by saying the reason people are voting for her is because she’s “real”, not “fake Hollywood” (biting the hand that feeds you).
Then she called out dance pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy specifically, saying to a Hollywood gossip magazine that Maks “didn’t like her” (thus ensuring her cult fans “hate” on him).
milipan commented on Nov 17 10 at 9:23 amShe is not my favorite, but the viewers voted and the results are what they are. That being said, if she beats Jennifer Grey because of votes alone, that would be awful.
kalyn - Missouri commented on Nov 17 10 at 11:04 amI think it is hysterical that Palin is still on this show, She doesn’t have any dance moves, she has not accomplished anything but to get pregnant at 17.. it’s all about her mother and the tea party followers who keep her coming back, it certainly isn’t because she deserves to be there..too bad politics has to enter every facet of our lives including entertainment..but that’s the Palins always have to be in the lime light..
russell commented on Nov 17 10 at 3:46 pmI don’t understand how Bristol can accept the trophy and feel good about it because Bristol will win. Knowing you won because of your mother and the teabaggers and not your talent makes the trophy ill gotten gain. Knowing that a majority of America has lit up the internet and even boycotting the show and sponsors would leave the win and the trophy a sore taste in her mouth.
Ronald Mason commented on Nov 17 10 at 7:26 pmDefinitely starting a movement to boycott DWTS. The judges are corrupt. The program is corrupt. She should have never received a score above 6 for any of her dancing. The judges gave her high scores, so that she would be reachable. It’s all fixed and pre-planned. Just a soap opera like the poor girl’s entire life has become. I feel sorry for her making a fool of herself. She’s probably a nice girl (like 100,000,000 other nice girls), nothing special though.
pppab commented on Nov 17 10 at 7:46 pmWinning because of fan votes doesn’t cheapen the trophy.. It just shows you appeal more to viewers than other contestants. Viewers know how the show works.. so they can’t rely on only judges good marks.. It’s not palin’s fault it’s actually everyone else that didn’t vote hard enough for her opponents.
Marsha commented on Nov 17 10 at 11:39 pmI think this is ridiculous this year and the only reason Bristol is still there is because of her mother. I am sick to death of hearing about this family and all their crap. People who never watched the show before are voting for her and it’s all politics again. I have watched DWTS every year since it started but will tell you I am done and will never watch it again.
