President Obama's trip to India cost estimates are inflated

The Obama trip to India cost estimates are exaggerated, according to the White House. President Obama’s trip to India was said to cost $200 million a day, resulting in many, many complaints… but you can’t believe everything you read.

The $200 million a day estimate came from an Indian media outlet – and conservative talk radio ran with it.

Naturally, the exact cost of the Obama trip to India will not be shared. Obama’s India trip also includes visits to South Korea, Indonesia and Japan.

White House spokesman Tommy Vietor said of the Obama trip to India cost estimate rumors:

“The numbers reported in this article have no basis in reality. Due to security concerns, we are unable to outline details associated with security procedures and costs, but it’s safe to say these numbers are wildly inflated.”

No doubt, yes, Obama’s trip to India will cost a pretty penny, but $200 million a day is a huge exaggeration.

Foreign trips are expensive, plus the president’s security precautions can really add up, but it’s reported that Obama’s team is unlikely to spend any more money than previous presidential teams, and that’s taking inflation into account.

Do you believe that Obama’s trip to India will cost $200 million a day?

Ok, fine don’t share the details now, what about after the trip??? Why taxpayers are not allowed to know how much this trip is going to cost?

It wouldn’t surprise me a bit. Why can’t we know the costs, it’s OUR MONEY!!!!!! I am outraged about this and for anyone to downplay this, as YOU don’t know that it is NOT true, is shamful as well. If anyone is making this amount up, then that is shameful as well, but we should be able to KNOW WHERE OUR MONEY GOES. How necessary is this trip when there are people out of work, going hungry and living on the streets?????????? I’d like someone to answer that question!!!!!

Don’t forget he if fighting for the “average joe.” What I wouldn’t give to be an average joe. I think when people get to Washington, they lose touch with reality. He must have to pay a lot of people back for help during the election if in fact 3000 people are going on this junket.

The Whitehouse states, “You can’t believe everything you read.” That is true, but in the absence of a rebuttal, the argument has shades of truth.
