Nancy Pelosi Election Results: Out as Speaker and 5 Other Things About This Mother of Five
Nancy Pelosi, 70, the first woman to serve as Speaker of the House, will lose that title as the Republicans take control of the House following last night’s election. It’s easy to see Pelosi as a caricature — the plastic surgery jokes, the mocking by late night talk show hosts and the abysmal approval ratings. But, hey, she’s a real person — a mom and a grandmother and here are five things you might not know about Pelosi:
–She’s been married to husband Paul Pelosi since 1963 and have five children: Nancy Corinne, Christine, Jacqueline, Paul and Alexandra, as well as seven grandchildren. Alexandra, a journalist, covered the Republican presidential campaigns in 2000 and made a film about the experience, Journeys with George. In 2007, Christine published a book, Campaign Boot Camp: Basic Training for Future Leaders.
–She is among the most wealthy members of Congress. The Pelosi family has a net worth of nearly $12.5 million as of 2008, largely from investments. In addition to their large portfolio of California real estate, the couple also owns a vineyard valued at between $5 million and $25 million. Pelosi’s husband also owns stock, including $1 million in Apple, Inc.
–Not only is she the first female to hold the Speaker of the House position, she’s the first Italian-American and first Californian to hold the title.
–She graduated from Trinity College (Washington, D.C.) in 1962 with a degree in (what else?) political science.
–She was born in Baltimore, Maryland and is the youngest of six children.

Mike ricketts commented on Nov 03 10 at 10:56 am#7 She has proven that outside of her Bay Area wacko voting base, she is the most divisive SOTH ever to serve our country. Good riddance

Leanne1st commented on Nov 03 10 at 10:56 amThank God she’s going go be gone!! Her assertion that the American people need to “be involved in the economic recovery” by paying a transaction tax (among many other taxes, I’m sure), made me sick. It’s disgusting how our government imposes tax after tax on us, yet they are usually exempt from them!

And this makes here very out of touch with everyone else. A career politician that needs to go home.
Mr. Right Now commented on Nov 03 10 at 11:16 amWhen she said “Instead of listening to the people, sometimes we have to do what’s right.” that’s proof she’s a out of touch lunatic. I wonder if she’ll still be using that cross country jumbo jet at taxpayers expense?
