Rod Stewart Reconnects With Daughter Sarah Streeter Whom He Put Up For Adoption
Rod Stewart is reconnecting with the daughter he put up for adoption in his teens
While Rod Stewart is busy preparing for the birth of his 8th child with wife Penny Lancaster, he’s also just starting to get to know his oldest child. Sarah Streeter is in her late 40’s and discovered in the ‘80’s that she was the biological daughter of the famous rocker. Stewart was only a teenager when Streeter was born and put up for adoption.
According to PEOPLE, Stewart told ‘The Joy Behar Show’ “She was put up for adoption when I was 17 or 18, I think. I was absolutely stone broke … and so she was put up for adoption.”
But it seems a recent turn of life events has brought Streeter and Stewart back together – slowly. “Since her mum and dad have died, we’ve tried to come together and be close together, and it’s working out pretty well. I never felt like I was her dad, because I didn’t take her to school, change her nappies, there was no paternal thing there, but I’m trying.”
And for her part Streeter is welcome to getting to know her biological father. She told The Daily Mail that “There’s no anger there. I never was angry about what happened really, just sad. But now I’m older I see things differently and realize that it has been as difficult for him over the years as it has been for me. Now we’re at the start of a new chapter, and that’s wonderful.”
I’m sure that it must have been a tough decision to put Streeter up for adoption, but it’s nice how life has somehow brought them back together
