Remembering Bishop Brazier: President Obama And Others Pay Tribute
Arthur M. Brazier, known as Bishop Brazier to the many members of Chicago’s Apostolic Church of God, passed away today at age 89. Brazier, whose son now heads the Woodlawn organization that he helped found years ago, was hospitalized earlier this week.
Bishop Brazier was a leader in the civil rights movement after growing up during the Great Depression. He was a staff sergeant in the United States Army in India and Burma during World War II, and he touched thousands of lives through his ministries.
“Improving my community isn’t a job, it’s been my whole life,” he once said.
President Barack Obama, who served in Chicago before coming to Washington, D.C., was among the many who paid tribute to Brazier, releasing a statement on his passing: “There is no way that we can replace the gentle heart and boundless determination that Bishop Brazier brought to some of the most pressing challenges facing Chicago and our nation.”
Please add your own remembrances of Bishop Brazier.

As much as we will miss him, and we WILL definately miss him! How awesome, humbling and blessed he must feel at this time to be in the presence of the One that he dedicated his life to, The Almighty God!
