TJ Lavin Now Battling Pneumonia. Will He Be OK?
TJ Lavin, the BMX biker who was put in a medically induced coma earlier this week after a crash, is now suffering pneumonia. The sickness is likely caused by a tube inserted to help him breathe.
Will he be OK? Doctors weigh in.
“Everything is good there,” his business manager Chas Aday told PEOPLE. “Doctors are not expecting any [brain damage], but we’re just not going to know until he wakes up if there is any loss or how bad it is going to be.”
Doctors are treating the pneumonia and plan on extracting the breathing tube by this weekend, along with another tube that is being used to feed him.
“Getting the tube out is the big thing. That’s what’s holding him back,” Chas said. “Once they get the tube out, he could be home two, three, maybe four days later. … They don’t know. It could be a week. It could be two weeks. It really depends on the antibiotics.”
We wish him a speedy recovery!
