Graco stroller recall: How to see if your stroller has been recalled

The Graco stroller recall is terrifying, because a) four infants have reportedly been strangled by this defect, and b) these deaths happened more than five years ago! Why are we just being told about it now? Like celebrities such as Khloe Kourtney Kardashian, Dave Grohl and Carnie Wilson, I have a Graco product, and I’m about to run out to the garage to see if mine is in the recall bunch.

And before I run out, I wonder if this latest recall, from one of the less-expensive manufacturers, explains why most celeb parents tend to buy expensive, top-of-the-line strollers. I always figured my stroller was as good as a Bugaboo, why spend the extra dough? But this recall makes me rethink that …

Anyway, if you just bought your stroller in the past three years, no worries, this affects those manufactured from 2000 to 2007.

You can find a full list of the products being recalled here. Go to the Graco web site to get a repair kit.

Do you have a Graco stroller? Would you buy from them again?

Plain and simple this is only a problem if you use the stroller incorrectly. If you kid is strapped in like they should be as per the instruction manual this cannot happen.

I do not understand this country. You fail to follow instructions and suddenly Graco is at fault?

Yes I have two kids and yes I have the Metrolite. Anyone with half a brain can see that their kid could get stuck in between the seat and tray. That is why I pay attention to my kid or strap them in.

It is a great stroller.

p.s. Perhaps we should also follow celebrities and pass off raising our kids to a nanny and go out and party all night?

Did you even read what you wrote there?

Good lord what is this country coming to?

Yes, I would buy from them again. The problem was not the stroller, but the parents. The kids had to have been stuck for at least 5 minutes before being killed. This is a case of educating parents not blaming a company. Their products are great and the prices help keep us out of the poor house.

I agree, parents should follow all instructions that come with a stroller, but it is terrifying to think that we are just now hearing about this-I have the metrolite that was purchased in 2005 when my daughter was born, and used again with my son in 2008. I always strapped them in, but as I have read other articles about this recall, it also has to do with a defected latch mechanism that causes the strollers to collapse suddenly. No matter how well a parent follows directions, you cannot prevent this from happening. I cannot believe we are just now hearing about deaths from 5 years ago-my children are now out of the strollers and thank goodness they were never injured from these, but had I heard about this then, I definitely would have gotten a new stroller-Always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to your children. I too, am appalled that this is just now coming out. Had then news come out then, maybe that number 4 could have been 1.

But to answer the question, yes, I would buy from them again-It seems like a lot of things have been recalled lately-no matter what brand-but I do think they should have made the public aware of these incidences asap. I am mad about that!

So what if celebrities spend more? There have been product recalls on Maclarens, Bugaboos, etc, in recent years. Try to do a little more research before you make such an absurd presumption that higher priced products equates to quality – sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t – and that if a celeb buys it, then we should too… I own a recalled Graco, and again, if you do your job as a parent, your child will likely be fine. I would buy Graco again.
