Listen: Taylor Swift “Mean,” Full Version Audio, Mean Lyrics
Listen to Taylor Swift’s “Mean” full version in the audio clip below. With Taylor Swift’s “Mean” lyrics hitting the internet, we see Taylor’s songwriting is yet again a reflection of what’s happened in her life.
Taylor Swift’s “Mean” lyrics tackle someone who has criticized her and how she deals with it. And naturally, everyone wants to know who “Mean” is about.
While Taylor Swift talks about one person that’s been mean to her, it appears that the lyrics are also attacking all those Taylor Swift haters that have tried to knock her down over the years too.
We all kind of forget that while being a celebrity is pretty cool all around, there are always the haters out there who feel the need to bash.
Taylor Swift is by now very well known for pouring her personal experience into song, writing about relationships and boys who have done her wrong (*cough* Joe Jonas), so “Mean” isn’t much of a surprise, really.
Looks like Swift may keep fans guessing who “Mean” is about though…
Take a listen to the full version of Taylor Swift’s “Mean” here – what do you think?
“You, with your words like knives
And swords and weapons that you use against me,
You, have knocked me off my feet again,
Got me feeling like I’m nothing.
You, with your voice like nails on a chalkboard
Calling me out when I’m wounded.
You, pickin’ on the weaker man.
Well you can take me down,
With just one single blow.
But you don’t know, what you don’t know,
Someday, I’ll be living in a big old city,
And all you’re ever gonna be is mean.
Someday, I’ll be big enough so you can’t hit me,
And all you’re ever gonna be is mean.
Why you gotta be so mean?”
