Dayna Kempson Schacht Video: Were Her Parents A Victim Of Cyber-Bullying?
Every parent’s worst nightmare is to have something happen to their child, especially in a horrific and tragic way. The parents of 23-year old Dayna Kempson Schacht have had double the pain that most parents go through when losing a child, especially because the video of their daughter’s horrific car crash was sent to them via cell phone.
Dayna Kempson Schacht was a beautiful mother of two who lost control of her car last July and hit a patch of trees. She was killed instantly. A couple of months after she passed away, her parents received a video message on their cell phone, complete with footage of Dayna right after the crash. The worst part is that the video was taken by one of the first responders on the scene of the accident.
Dayna’s father, Jeff Kempson said, “It was bad enough that we lost our daughter. And now to have to deal with something like this, it’s just beyond words.”
In the video, someone is talking in the background and says, “Hold that down for me. That’s really bad. Oh my God.”
The video was shared between other firefighters and then eventually went viral.
Dayna’s mother, Lucretia Kempson can’t get the image of the video out of her mind and says, “When I close my eyes, it’s not fair that that video is what I see of my daughter.”
Why this person chose to shoot such a horrific video is beyond me, but I can’t help but think that Dayna’s poor parents are vicitms of a form of cyber-bullying. We typically think of cyber-bullying only happening to kids and young adults, but what other label can be put on such a horrific act?
Have advances in technology pretty much extinguised people having a conscience?
My heart and prayers go out to Dayna’s parents, and the two children she left behind. I hope and pray that the video is destroyed so that they never have to see it.

As I see em commented on Oct 19 10 at 1:08 pmThose firefighters are sworn to serve the community and their actions are nothing but thoughtless and quite idiotic. No matter what community you live in, the people wouldn’t want someone like this with no compassion serving in such a position. The Fire Department has to do everything they can to make sure this kind of thing isn’t condoned in any way- including termination of every single employee involved. The firefighters that had the video passed to them should have spoken up as well! My heart goes out to this family for such a despicable act.
Judge Tom commented on Oct 19 10 at 1:28 pmAfter 23 years in juvenile court, I believe that teenagers often learn from the experiences of their peers, not just from being lectured by those in authority. Consequently, “Teen Cyberbullying Investigated” was published in January, 2010.
Endorsed by Dr. Phil on April 8, 2010 ["Bullied to Death" show], “Teen Cyberbullying Investigated” presents real cases of teens in trouble over their online and cell phone activities. Civil & criminal sanctions have been imposed on teens over their emails, blogs, text and IM messages, Facebook entries and more. TCI is interactive and promotes education & awareness so that our youth will begin to “Think B4 U Click.”
Thanks for looking at “Teen Cyberbullying Investigated” on http://www.freespirit.com [publisher] or on http://www.askthejudge.info [a free website for & about teens and the law].

Gertie commented on Oct 19 10 at 4:13 pmI think it is more a case of desensitization. First, the internet is full of sites where people post death and accident videos. In some cases this has been helpful, with people eventually tracking down hit-and-run drivers and other criminals from such videos, but they can have a darker side all too often. Lately there has been a lot of discussion about accidents where people are so busy filming on their cell phones that no one helps the injured. I really doubt this guy intended to bully anyone, rather, emergency work like any other is full of a lot of same old same old. This incident was unusual and so he shot a little video just meaning it to be between himself and coworkers, but that isn’t what the internet is about. I think he unfortunately has become, through his work, desensitized to the nightmare of the situation, something probably necessary to continue in that line of work, and being young he still has that immortality feeling young people have, so it was hard for him to put himself in the position of the family.
I’m not saying we should excuse his behavior, but I do think we should offer both an approach of providing consequences for his actions and education for the public out of this incident.

Aman commented on Oct 19 10 at 11:13 pmDayna Kempson Schacht video of her tragic car accident was sent to her parents via cell phone. Can you imagine? It was only last July that Schacht, a 23-year-old Georgia native, lost control of her car and crashed into trees that resulted in an instant death. While her parents were trying to cope with the devastating loss, it was just a couple months later that they received a video message sent to their cell phone. Included in that video? Raw footage of their daughter’s crash that was supposedly filmed in its entirety by a first responder. U can Also watched full video : http://dayna-kempson.notlong.com

Aman Pruthi commented on Oct 19 10 at 11:17 pmThe death of 23 years old Dayna Kempson Schacht happened in a violent car crash on the 17th of July 2010. Exactly two months after the tragic death of Dayna Kempson Schacht, her father, Jeff Schacht, received a video on his cell phone that showed the exact happenings in the after math of the terrible crash that claimed his daughter’s life. The Dayna Kempson Schacht car crash video also showed the severed body of the beautiful girl at the scene. http://dayna-kempson.notlong.com
There are two voices accompanying the Dayna Kempson Schacht video in which one is instructing the other to flash some light on the corpse’s face for clear viewing and then both voices go “Oh My God”. Investigators at the Spalding County SheriffSheriff’s department have established that one of the Georgian firefighters who reached the scene of the Dayna Kempson Schacht car crash first must be responsible for taking the footage. By sending the family of Dayna Kempson Schacht, her tragic crash video, the family has been put through a second trauma. See full video at: http://dayna-kempson.notlong.com
