Is RHONY Star Bethenney Frankel Lying About Her Troubled Past?

There’s a she said/she said battle brewing between RHONY and Bethenny Getting Married star Bethenny Frankel and her mom, Bernadette Birk. The outspoken reality starlet has made no secret of the fact that she doesn’t speak to her parents and that she treats her in-laws like the family she never had. But now Frankel’s mother, Birk, is fighting back, claiming that Frankel’s claims are all a lie.
Bernadette Birk spoke to RadarOnline.com about Frankel’s disparaging comments;
“She is slamming me… and I’m sick!”
“She did not come from a broken home and her father did not leave her at 4 years old, I left her father when she was 2 years old and he did not support us with one penny, no alimony.”
Birk also claims that she had no knowledge of Frankel’s wild teenage years.
“I was a stay at home mother and didn’t go back to work until she started boarding school. I gave up so much because I loved her… I didn’t even consider it giving something up.
“She went to visit her father for the first time at 15 years old. It was the same time she is now claiming she started drinking and doing drugs. I was never aware she was doing this. Even though she is bad mouthing her father she was always after his affection.”
Birk goes on to say that it’s been 10 years since she spoke with her reality star daughter and that conversation didn’t go so well!
“The last time I spoke to her was 10 years ago when she borrowed my car and then demolished it and she left it in her boyfriend’s lot and it got stripped,” Birk says.
“I called her to tell her and she started yelling at me and hung up… and we have never spoken since.”
I wonder if Frankel’s mother is looking to cash in on some of Frankel’s fame or if she really is upset about how Frankel is portraying her. If she hasn’t spoken to her daughter in 10 years it seems like she might be a bit bitter. I can’t wait to hear what Bethenney will say about this! What do you think – do you think this is sour grapes on her mother’s part, or is Frankel stretching the truth about her terrible childhood?

Angela commented on Oct 14 10 at 11:02 amI’ve actually thought a lot of Bethenny’s story was B.S. She seemed to play on the sympathy and repeating over and over again info about her alleged past. I always thought she was full of it and still believe she is.
Bethenny seems troubled and before you know it, she’ll probably ruin Jason and Bryn’s life too. She’s annoying.

Bethenny also stated she went to kindergarten in California while living with her dad…pretty sure that’s when you 5 not 15. Her mom is trying to cash in on all Bethenny success…..good luck repairing that relationship now Mommy Dearest!
