Waiting For Superman Kids Meet Barack Obama!
The five children who were featured in the documentary Waiting for Superman will have quite a big honor bestowed on them this week. They’ve already become famous for their participation in the feature film that has become a battle cry for reform of the educational system in the United Sates. But on Monday the children will get to meet President Barack Obama.
Along with the director Davis Guggenheim, the children will go to the white house and shake hands with the president and have the opportunity to speak with him. The kids are all from Washington D.C. area, the film chronicles their struggle to leave the “failing” public schools and win the lottery and attend a charter school where their chances of getting a decent education greatly increase.
Obama was apparently moved by the film which he called “heartbreaking” and that the message for reform of the school system is “powerful.” But the national teachers union is reportedly not too thrilled by the meeting, since they came off badly in the film for not firing bad teachers and tying the teachers pay and tenure to how the students perform.
Have you seen Waiting for Superman yet? What did you think?

Actually only one child was from the DC area. But you know dont let easy to find facts get in the way of blogging. It was a great movie by the way and everyone should see it.
