NFL Puts on Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness

Real men wear pink!  The NFL put on pink for today’s games in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Throughout the month of October, the NFL Players Association is stepping up to show its support for the fight against breast cancer.   For the next few weeks, you can catch your favorite players, coaches, refs, and even the camera-guys wearing a wide array of pink items to show off their support of this important cause.

The annual campaign titled “A Crucial Catch”,  is focused on raising awareness of the importance of annual screenings, especially for women who are 40 and older.

All of the pink apparel worn at games by players and coaches plus some special game balls and pink coins will be auctioned off at NFL Auction with the proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society and selected team charities.

Is Breast Cancer the only Cancer worthy of attention by the NFL?

Jphn Paul commented on Oct 03 10 at 3:43 pm

Of course it isn’t but if you don’t ask you don’t get the support. Cudos to the NFL!

Well John Paul, 1 in 8 women are diagnosed with breast cancer. Meaning most people have a friend or loved one who has been affected by it. So if you care about your wife/girlfriend, mom, aunt, sister, daughter, niece, etc., then you’ll suck it up and watch the players run around in pink.

When I see prostate awareness month on soap operas then I will suck it up and watch the NFL make their players wear stupid pink uniforms to ostensibly show how much they care about women. Ridiculous.

pink is for G STRING FAGGOTS! The NFL owes me a new tv for screwing up my pixel with that hot pink gay shit!

kev commented on Oct 04 10 at 4:01 pm

@ Kev, You’re a shallow person and a person with strong prejudice. These NFL players proudly wear pink supporting breast cancer awareness where their wife, mother, sister, girlfriend, or friend have been affected by this disease.
@ Adam, your ignorance shows me that you know nothing about men getting breast cancer too…. and you watch soap operas?

Maybe once these selfish little boys, are affected with a loved one who becomes diagnosed with this disease they just may get it, but probably not that is why there is so much ignorance and hatred in the world.Grow up boys.

But what about the fathers, brothers, uncles, and grandfathers that die from any number of causes? Heart disease, diabetes, suicide, homicide, on the job accidents? The NFL is fumbling (pun intended) to raise awareness for men’s issues, yet it seems to focus on a woman’s issue.

Chuck commented on Oct 07 10 at 1:50 am

Everyone is NOT entitled to have an opinion. I find you men to be disrespectful, arrogant, pompous little s@#$s! This was a very low blow. My great aunt did of breast cancer and I am not going to let this go with out a response. You all came from a woman unless your father’s pissed you out. You should be greatful that your mothers did not suffer from it and fight so your wives, girlfriends, or daughters (that you don’t deserve) do not suffer from it. I wathced my aunt slowly deteriorate from chemo and other pains, and you pansies sit here and you bash NFL players for supporting and raising funds. ALso, if you were smart, you would figure finding a cure for one type of cancer may open doors to cures for other forms of cancer. You should just get off the couch and get a job if it bothers you so much. Pathetic little ball-less rats.

Even if my wife/mother/sister/aunt/friend had breast cancer I would still think it ridiculous. Do we really need breast cancer awareness stuff anyway? Who the heck is not aware of it? How could you not be after being deluged with all this pink marketing crap? I hate cancer of any type I just don’t see how making NFL players wear pink helps AT ALL. Why not take all the money they spend on all the pink crap like cleats, chinstraps, hats and such and give it to research. I still maintain it’s stupid and silly.

And as usual when people disagree with something they resort to personal attacks.

Adam C. commented on Oct 10 10 at 6:02 pm

It isjust over the top..The players should sport a pink ribbon on the jersey and helmet, other than this ridiculous propaganda of cleats and even mouthgaurds with the color pink. Other cancers shoud be recognized if they are going to go to the extremes as they are…It is is completley distracting.

coop commented on Oct 11 10 at 9:32 pm

@Chuck – try educating yourself. Heart disease is the #1 killer of women, not men, and diabetes, suicide, homicide and on the job accidents are not exclusive to men!!! So how are they men’s issues????

Brenda commented on Oct 18 10 at 12:07 am

Yes we are all aware of breast cancer. We get it already,,,this is all over $$ and public relations, it looks stupid. Just put the little pink ribbon on the back of their helmets and thatll be it. THis is the NFL alright. When they wear all that pink sh!t they look like a bunch of queers

glen commented on Oct 24 10 at 3:20 am

I agree with some of the guys on here…and Im a woman. The NFL can show support by wearing a pink ribbon on there jerseys or something like that without going over the top like this…or just wear the pink stuff for one week…not the whole month of October…which has 5 weekends this year! Thats just too much.
